Today was Vivian's first day of school. She's going to the Kindering Center twice a week for social interaction while continuing to work on her walking, running, etc. She'll be there twice a week for 90 minutes a session. This is time without my intervention so she can manage herself with other children. She's supervised, so there's nothing to worry about.
I thought she'd be a little upset when I left, but she had already found a copy of Goodnight Moon and some play cookies and someone to sit by. As it turns out, I was the one having a harder time saying goodbye. I sat in the car, a little sad. It wore off rather quickly as I was able to run errands childless, in the daytime, for the first time in a long time.
Well... time to go get her. It's already been too long.
We moved into this house four years ago. We bought the house with plans to move out within the first seven years, so moving out now isn't a huge shock to us. However, it's still a bit weird to know that after this month, we shouldn't be spending much time here. We hope to be moved out before the end of May.
I have Run to the Sun next week, so there will be a lot of work once I get back to pack and move as many boxes as I can. Then we just need to get some movers to move the Entertainment Center of Doom and the Very Heavy TV (100+ lbs). Also the tall, lanky bookcases from the Stuff Room and the desk. Dressers and such. I definitely think there's enough furniture to require movers. Besides, they come with a truck.
That's not to say the house is ready to go... but it's at least livable. All the bamboo is installed in the three rooms. We bought the trim for those rooms yesterday. They should be finished up this week. The master bathroom is still mostly unusable. We're okay with this for now since we can use the main bathroom. The storage room downstairs still has no flooring, nor do we know what to put there. The garage doors still don't work that well, but we can do it manually for now, I think. Other than the furnace needing replacing and a bunch of outside paint job, that's all I can think of right now. There's the deck, but that's next year's project.
I'm excited to have my own room. A place for some solitude. I'm going to have somewhere to put all my art and wallscrolls too. A place to call my own. :) Too bad, for now, it's full of boxes.
