E3: Day 1
It's finally time to start the show! Since we were swamped most of the first two days, we have to go early to pick up the media badges. This year, E3 shuttles are only usable by people who have special armbands, which are given by the hotel through E3 housing. This was actually quite a mess to get arranged, too. Therefore, since they only gave us four, we actually had to use Wes and Doug's cars in order to get the whole team to the convention. It worked pretty well, fortunately.
It's almost two in the afternoon now. I had not left South Hall since starting this morning, but I figured I better write something for the journal, as well as some impressions. The swag this year is really light, which is a bit different, but it's been going down for a few years now, so that's no surprise. There are more people than last year for sure, and the displays for the games are the most extravegant I've ever seen. Some companies have really outdone themselves this year. I particually liked NCsoft's setup with towering displays with three smaller screens showing the three machines in play, and one large screen that showed one of the three at random. They had one of these for every one of their games that I saw. I took some pictures that should show up in the gallery later this month.
Lunch was even more expensive than last year. I had a bowl of pasta (w/ a breadstick), and a large drink for eleven bucks. Ouch! Oh well, I got to eat. I forgot about the media lunch, but I'm sure they ran out as fast as they did last year. ^^ I am going to write some impressions now.
